Parents, teach your children that it's good manners to reply when somebody merely says good morning with a smile and walks on. If they try to continue the conversation, well...that's different. Yes, the latter may protect you from unsavory elements, but using good judgment while employing the former will make you a functioning member of society, and not just another space taker.
